I'm in the process of deleting all my journals at LJ, and I'm just paranoid enough to wonder why I keep hitting glitches as I navigate this process. When I deleted the first one, Firefox shut down as I attempted to fill in the form explaining why I made this decision. It happened as I typed my objections to Strikethrough '07, corporate censorship of content, LJ's shoddy treatment of abuse survivors, and the reporting of artists to law enforcement over fanart that's certainly not illegal. I was into my second of two brief sentences, so I know it wasn't the length. I can't help but wonder.

I hit another glitch when I tried to log into an account I created to aid in teaching my Women's Lit course. I couldn't remember the password, so I tried my usual three, only for the first time ever, when I failed on my third or fourth attempt, I received a message informing me LJ had temporarily banned my IP address for multiple login failures. I'd appreciate the security measure if not for the bad timing and the fact it's never happened before.

I'll leave this journal up for one or two more days while I add friends at the other sites, but then it's gone. I'm fed up with the neocons now running what used to be a wonderful service. Adios, LJ.

I just moved my whole flist at once using these instructions:

If you're on my LJ flist and have accounts at Insane Journal, Journalfen and/or Greatest Journal, I've added you there. I highly recommend this procedure. Talk about easy.

Who gave me this information? So many of you have generously shared links with me today that I can't find the person who provided this one in order to credit. Help?

ETA: I used the same function to friend my list of communities at the other sites. It worked, so now I'm "watching" those comms. I'll go back and join them next since they now appear on my profile pages. Handy.

ETA: The same procedure works for syndicated feeds. Cool.
