-Electricity restored last night at 10:00. We lost it a little before 5:00 Saturday morning.
-Much of town still going without power. This includes the grocery store where I just bought cat food and chocolate in the dark. It had limited generator power, so the only light came from refrigerators and perimeter aisles.
-Every time I read the word "podfic," I remind myself it doesn't mean FEMA Point-of-Distribution fic. BUT, I'm so glad to catch up on reading my flist.
-Note to both local and national reporters: Bolivar Peninsula is not an island. See name.
-Mom left yesterday. At the first sign of frailty I will box her up with a packing slip to my sister in California. Please don't tell me I'm caring for this woman in old age. My daughter danced after she left. What kind of grandmother inspires that response in a grandchild?
-Missed my hairdryer. *clings* Never do that to me again. Husband to me this morning: "Go get a shower. Your hair is just..." *makes sour face* No worries about the criticism. You haven't seen his hurricane beard. Heh.

ETA: Dramady ftw for updating my lj. Thank you! :)

I'm glad you're okay and have the power back on ! *hugs*

We were inconvenienced, but never in danger. Well - except at intersections. No stoplights. You should see the freeway underpasses. *shiver*

So glad to hear first hand that you're OK! News has been very limited, except for the Houston Chronicle site, so it's been hard to tell how worried we should be.

We're fine, just inconvenienced; however, people in the area continue to suffer. We all know what happened to the west end of Galveston, but we don't know anything about the more populous area - the city. The seawall protects the city. I don't understand. It's like journalism from Iraq - restricted.

Hugs! I'm glad you're back! <3 Looking forward to catching up next week!

Just our luck: Madison and I both have food poisoning. Don't ask. *points finger at local restaurant apparently opened prematurely*

Yay I'm glad you've got power at least.

*good thoughts for your city*

Thank you. We're doing so much better here than the coast. *hugs*

glad for you!

We found an open restaurant for lunch yesterday. :) Upscale place that got creative with their limited options. They served a lovely buffet, and everyone eating looked so grateful for the effort. We were grateful. That little bit of civilization felt so good.

Glad to hear you're more or less all right, and hope the food poisoning has passed (take in whatever sense works best). You haven't posted any bitching or moaning about your very difficult week. Your fortitude is impressive, but I for one feel you are completely entitled to do some serious complaining. I wish there was some way you could get back at the weather. Kick a Weather Channel reporter?

Hee! You read about the food poisoning. Speaking of not complaining, I just commented to Ender, above, about my gratitude for the lovely buffet. Despite the misery after, I'm still so thankful to the staff for trying to help us all move forward. Don't laugh. I'm usually not this positive.

Expect complaining soon. I do have words for the press on their lack of information about Galveston. We see the same footage over and over. It's like Iraq coverage. Who controls access, and why don't they let us see beyond certain areas?

It's late but so glad to see you back and all. Hope you're both over the food poisoning. *hugs*

*hugs back*

Maybe it wasn't food poisoning. I've had stomach problems off and on since the storm. Too nauseous to eat lunch today, for example, and the same with dinner last night. I'll mention it to my doctor at my next office visit.
