Class pieces

I made almost 50 pieces in class, but these seem like good examples of my work so far. I was just going bigger/taller when the summer session ended, so I've continued that trend at home.

I poured the plaster for the wedging table last night, and it set up before I went to bed. I won't get to use it before it completely dries, but since I've never worked with plaster, I'm kind of proud of myself. I've never tried any kind of wood work on my own either, but next I hope to make the table base.

Wow! Those are lovely! You have every reason to be proud! :D

Thanks! I made almost fifty pieces, but these seemed like good examples.

I'm still trying to figure out a good time for us to have lunch. Jeffrey surprised me this morning with a visit from someone to look at putting a replacement fountain in the backyard, and we have another electrician coming tomorrow. Considering the unpredictability of M-Th, Fridays work best for me. How does this Friday look for you?

This friday should work out pretty good. I'll be half-dead-- we're doing an hour of interval training with our trainer, who nearly made me cry today. But chinese on Friday, after, will be good.

Hurray!

Do you mind bringing me the Ehrenreich (sp?) book?

What is interval training, btw?

From: [identity profile] dramady.livejournal.com

I can bring the book, np!

From what I understand, it's like jogging for an interval, squats, more cardio, weights, etc? I think? I'll be able to tell you friday, hee.

I think she does. Seriously. Today was working on quads, and seriously, I thought I would cry or vomit.

I'm not proud.

Ah - a dominatrix then, but with all the pain and none of the pleasure. :(

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

So, as it looks right now, I will have a chance to be within a foot of:

Jared P
Jensen
Thomas

and counting. And I'm not excited AT ALL.

Of course not. :) I wonder if any X-Files people will come. It hadn't occurred to me before, but with the film release....

How will you keep from fangirling all over these guys? I'd have a difficult time with that.

From: [identity profile] dramady.livejournal.com

My biggest concern is freaking them (esp. Thomas) out by acting like a freakish fangirl who should know better being as she's nearly 40. It's an oppressive fear. I'm not cool.

I didn't see X--files listed, actually. I think because the movie's so close to already opening, if it hasn't already opened.

OMG! Those are fab! I especially like that tea pot. Great work!

Oh those are lovely, I think you have every right to be proud of yourself.

Thank you. :) I almost sacrificed the teapot to the kiln gods right before the final firing. It looked obnoxious to me. Glad I didn't. Turns out the right glaze makes a big difference.

Thank you. :) I haven't felt this good in a long time. It's probably more about meditation and finding out I'm capable of working with tools and such than it's about what gets made, so having pretty pieces show up here and there feels like lagniappe.

We will see. Right or not, I feel I'm owed after Ded_con. So we will see. yesh.

SO, it's just a matter of not acting like an ass. *crosses fingers!*

You're welcome :-)

I'm pleased to hear it, you deserve it too. *nods*

feels like lagniappe

Feels like what? *curious*

But I know what you mean about being able to pick up 'tools' even though I don't have the kind talent you have, I get a lot of pleasure from a crochet needle or a tatting needle both of which are completely therapeutic.

WOW! These are great! *covets the pitcher* Oh yes. And the different glazes are really cool. Bravo!

I know "lagniappe" as a cajun term meaning a little extra. It's pronounced "lawn-yawp."

From: [identity profile] devin-chain.livejournal.com

:) Thank you. My favorite glaze name from the class recipe list was "Vegas Red."

Oooh.... interesting.

You learn something new every day *smiles*

I am so glad you didn't sacrafice it. Really I am. Will you be making only for yourself or will you be selling peices as well?

From: [identity profile] devin-chain.livejournal.com

I have a bad habit of giving all my pottery away and therefore forgetting to keep any of it for myself. Sales? I can't imagine selling, but maybe someday.

Those are beautiful! I'm very impressed. :)
