It's supposed to hit today.
I know I'm preaching to the choir here, and I don't usually get political in this space, but I hope those of you on my flist who're American will both tune in to watch the US Senate on CSPAN2 sometime today and call your senators to speak your minds. We must protect the right of the minority to filibuster.
I'm speaking to Republicans on my flist, too. Republicans were the minority party too many years, it seems to me, not to appreciate the importance of the filibuster. I hope you'll watch. I hope you'll call your senators' offices. I called mine from my cellphone at work the other day. It's not that hard to do.
Capitol Building switchboard: 202-224-4048 (Voice)
Ask to speak to the offices of the senators from your state. The switchboard operators are wonderfully polite, and so are the staffs of your senators. They'll listen to and record your protests of "the nuclear option" for their bosses.
I know it doesn't always feel that way, but your voice does matter to these people.
ETA: You're welcome to use "comments" here to let the rest of us know you made the call. It's definitely worth crowing about. Or brag in your own lj. I'd love to hear all about your participation in our Democracy. :)
